The American presidential election

A presidential election is a democratic proces wich gives a nation the opportunity to elect their political leader who is given the power to lead the country and make crucial political decisions and arrangements on behalf of an entire nation. An election is therefore the most important collective decision, a nation can make.

The politics of every nation in the world influence each other, and so the whole world is watching closely, when a nation holds an election.

The United States of America is the world´s most powerfull nation and has a dominant and vital influence on the world peace, and therefore the world´s eyes are naturally fixed upon the American presidential election.

Also in Denmark the news are filled with daily repports on the latest stories and updates on the American presidential election.

The American presidential election is a battle of contrasts, that collide continuusly throughout a long electioneering campaign. To people just watching on the side line these collisions can form an intriguing story of the battles between the opponents that make people choose sides and fight towards different definitions of a happy end.

As a result, the updates, which I have read in the media, are often based on two different aspects of the electioneering campaign; the politics, which should be at the core of the election, on the one hand, and the battle between the contratsts and the candidates, who personifies these contrats, on the other hand.

In this blog I will make a make an attempt at commenting on a selection of the Danish reports on the current American presidential election and thereby give a selective description on how the election is seen from a Danish point of view.
