‘Experience’ is just a cover for age.

John McCain is 72 years old. If he gets elected, he will be the oldest man ever to be inaugurated as President of the United States. He has numerous diagnosed and treated cancers, but should he survive into a second term he will be pushing 80! Maybe that is why he is running. This is probably the only job he can apply for and hope to get at his advanced age.

Everybody knows that electing a young person does not guarantee that he or she will stay healthy throughout the term, but it is a hell of a lot more likely. Take Barack Obama, for example. He is 47, 25 years younger than McCain. Not only is he less likely to develop an age related condition (like dying of natural causes) or illness that will affect the running of the free world, but he is for sure more able to find the strength and stamina needed for this highly stressful and demanding job.

The retirement age in the US ranges from 62 to 70, McCain is 2 years past the upper age limit. Not that it is illegal for someone of a certain age to apply for a job, but when most companies won’t hire a 72 year old for any job, why should the American people hire him for the most important one of them all?
