John McCain can’t be reading the same newspapers as the rest of the world, because he is confident it will be a close race on the 4th November. Hasn’t he noticed that Obama has had a solid lead on him for weeks now? According to CNN’s latest, Obama has 49 percent to McCain’s 43. We’ve all seen them much, much closer, so I for one don’t believe in the thriller finish he promises.

McCain has also been asked about what Sarah Palin has meant for his campaign. He seems to think that she is indispensable; that she has brought strength to his party and is the best thing that could have happened to his campaign. Again, what news has he been watching? He is the only one in the world who thinks Palin was a good idea, even after all her blunders and shameless use of her own family as a campaign ploy.

McCain is the underdog; even he can’t dispute that. But he can’t really say he expects to lose, can he?
