The future of America, and indeed also the world, looks a whole lot brighter after Barack Obama is elected as the 44th president. Thankfully, the election night didn’t offer us any excitement as it became clear early on that McCain didn’t really stand a chance against Obama, who has received high praise for his well-run campaign.

Barack Obama will undoubtedly have a tough time getting America out of the mess that George W. Bush spent 8 years creating. He is going into the White House fully aware that this will be difficult, and he is also aware that the expectations America and the world have of him are exceptionally high. Yet he doesn’t seem daunted by the enormity of his task.
In addition to having the president elected, the Democrats also won majority in both houses, so Obama find it easier to get things done, instead of battling a Republican House and Senate.

The Republicans will spend the next four years doing a bit of soul searching. Finding out what went wrong, how the Democrats beat them so convincingly and how to come back. Some experts are saying that we haven’t heard the last of Sarah Palin, and that she is expected to run in 2012. I really hope so. She made, not deliberately, this campaign so much fun, and if she is the actual presidential campaign, we get to hear even more from her than this time!
