The current news are all just doom and gloom over the world’s financial crisis. Recession, unemployment, bankruptcies and home repossessions – it is all just a tad too serious. So was the American presidential election, but Sarah Palin made it fun! Not deliberately, of course, but every morning I would wake up and read something said or done that would tickle me, and make my day.
Not much tickling these days. Times are hard for the most of us, and the world leaders seems hell bent on borrowing money to help speed up recovery. What about me when I get old and need a pension? Will there be any money left, or will the enormous deficit still have to be paid off, leaving nothing for us who have been paying taxes for decades. It’s a worry.
Sarah Palin made politics fun. She made politics a bit like a cartoon – by her getting the VP nomination, I could easily imagine Homer Simpson getting it as well. He can’t name any newspapers either, and he likes hockey. Would Homer like Joe six-pack? You bet.
Sarah never got any further, as she and McCain lost the election. Happy as I am that it is Obama that sits in the White House, he has made it rather serious. Serious times calls for serious actions, but we all need to smile once in a while. So what can we, responsibly, get Sarah Palin to do so we can all get a little pick-me-up in the morning?
