David Cameron today apologised for mistakes his party has made on the economy. Among the errors mentioned was not warning about the extent of the UK’s debt crisis.

So the leader of the opposition has apologised. The one leader NOT currently in power, whose party hasn’t been in power for a while. Did you hear that, Mr. Brown?

Mr. Cameron said in his speech to the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce that he was sorry he had got some things wrong, and that opposition members as well as ministers should admit failings.  It is no secret that the Conservatives wants an apology from the Prime Minister over the sorry state of the nation, but so far Mr. Brown will do no such thing. According to him the financial crisis began abroad, and needs global action, and that he won’t shy away from decisions he took 11 years ago. The Prime Minister has also said that the Conservatives know ‘nothing’ about the financial crisis, and accuse them of a ‘do-nothing’ approach.

It might have been a way for David Cameron to score some points off Gordon Brown. It probably was. But – one thing he said is so true. It is up to the politicians, the people we have voted to run the country in our trust, to work hard to restore that trust. Because right now there isn’t much there. This alone is the reason why Gordon Brown should, if not apologize, then admit that some decisions he made is partly to blame for our current hardship.
