No, just Bob Quick. The UK’s top counter terrorist officer resigns after admitting he could have jeopardized an operation to stop a possible al-Qaeda terror plot to the UK.  I just don’t understand how it happened. He had folders in his hands. Folders that would easily have hidden his secret documents, he just chose not to use them. For someone whose job is secrecy, he didn’t do that very well.

I rarely agrees when someone is ‘forced’ to resign. In this case it was very fair. Bob Quick’s thoughtlessness could have cost us dearly. Not just in wasted intelligence work, but if the police hadn’t brought their actions forward, things might have gone the other way. The terror threat to the UK is very real, mainly due to the strong ties with the US and the involvement in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I am sure Bob Quick has been very good at his job, and possibly helped avert many terrorist strikes. But with a job like the one he had, you need to be on guard 24/7, and once you make a mistake that puts people in jeopardy, there are no second chances. Nor should there be. David Blunkett, another Clouseau wannabe, wants tighter controls on photographers outside number 10. I think people should just use the folders they are carrying.
