Is Obama’s style of governing ‘hyperactive’? A conservative talk show host in the US claims Obama’s amount of policies is like dousing the American public with petrol and lighting a match. A former adviser to the Bush administration calls the vice president a liar. Apparently there are 17 socialist in the House of Representatives. Isn’t it time the Republicans realized they lost?
Are they right? Is he trying to do too much too soon? Obama has even got his own ism already. So what is Obamaism? Style or substance? Cool or caring? Fashionable yet old fashioned? I think all of the above. He has put forward a $3.5 trillion budget, proposed a rescue plan for banks and bailed out the badly hit car industry. He is promising a green energy “revolution”, universal health care, school reform and an overhaul of immigration. He has toured Europe, dared to call America ‘arrogant’ and extended a hand to Iran and the rest of the Middle East.
Is he stretching himself too far? The fear is that he takes his eye off one of the balls he is juggling, and he is juggling a lot of them. Sure he has selected himself a top notch staff, but Barack Obama has one major thing counting against him. The world believes he can save the world. The fall, if he falls, is very, very high.
