Joe Biden has made a few errors lately. This can cost him dearly, as Obama has a way of replacing him. Biden’s errors are embarrassing for the Obama campaign, but few think they have an impact on opinion polls. Rumors are circulating in the US about this, and Obama’s campaign has yet to deny it. Is this because Barack Obama has finally admitted that choosing Biden as his running mate might have been the beginning of the end?
One of the embarrassing moments came late September when Biden was speaking to Katie Couric about the current problems with the economy. Biden said that Franklin Roosevelt got on television in 1929 to talk about the economy then. Franklin Roosevelt became president in 1933, 4 years after. And there wasn’t television in 1929 either. Nor in 1933. These are major errors, and stupidity not heard from the white house since (Unless you count most things said the last 8 years by Dubyah.) Bush Senior’s Vice President Dan Quayle spoke of his trip to Latin America, where he was sadly not able to speak to any of the natives because they only spoke Latin.
So, not in the greater scheme important mistakes by Biden, but some that Obama’s campaign could well do without.
Having seen the way the public and the media responded to John McCain’s choice of running mate, Obama might see that his safe choice in a middle aged (old), white and male to contrast Obama being black and young has backfired. America doesn’t seem to want someone old, but someone who can bring something else than safety and a poor knowledge of history.
The only way Obama can do this without appearing desperate is to make Joe Biden withdraw due to health reasons. Then he can bring Hillary back!
