Barack Obama is too young and too inexperienced to run our country, says John McCain. Yes, he is 25 years his senior, but John McCain is 72. The male life expectancy in the US is 75.15 according to the CIA World Factbook (2007). If this turns out to be true for John McCain, he will die during his first term, and we all know what will happen then. His chosen running mate, Sarah Palin, will become president. But Palin is 28 years younger than McCain, and even more inexperienced than Obama. Has John McCain really thought this through? McCain is Mr. Hypocrite.

Comeback Clinton!
Joe Biden has made a few errors lately. This can cost him dearly, as Obama has a way of replacing him. Biden’s errors are embarrassing for the Obama campaign, but few think they have an impact on opinion polls. Rumors are circulating in the US about this, and Obama’s campaign has yet to deny it. Is this because Barack Obama has finally admitted that choosing Biden as his running mate might have been the beginning of the end? Comeback Clinton!
Debate, debate.
So yesterday’s Presidential debate in Oxford, Mississippi, went ahead. McCain ended the suspense and broke his promise to skip the scheduled event if no deal was made on the financial rescue plan. As it happened, it was a fairly quiet and non-eventful event. Nothing new came out, there were no surprises and the tone was, for the most part, quite civilized between McCain and Obama. Was it worth watching? Debate, debate.
Multitasking?
Anyone elected as leader of the free world should be able to concentrate on more than one thing at the time. So why has John McCain announced that he will suspend his campaign and return to Washington D.C to deal with the economy? Is this some desperate attempt to avoid Friday’s debate with Barack Obama (who is leading in the polls)? Is McCain trying to use his ‘I’m soon to be President-elect’ so I should be where the action is? Multitasking?
‘Experience’ is just a cover for age.
John McCain is 72 years old. If he gets elected, he will be the oldest man ever to be inaugurated as President of the United States. He has numerous diagnosed and treated cancers, but should he survive into a second term he will be pushing 80! Maybe that is why he is running. This is probably the only job he can apply for and hope to get at his advanced age.
Everybody knows that electing a young person does not guarantee that he or she will stay healthy throughout the term, but it is a hell of a lot more likely. ‘Experience’ is just a cover for age.
Joe Biden? Who?
Maybe John McCain got it right for once. In picking Sarah Palin as his running mate. She is young, pretty with an adorable family and controversial. Not only is she a woman, but she is a pretty though one, too.
Her excellent speech at the Republican convention threw her into the media spotlight, her remarks about Barack Obama and the now infamous lipstick joke being the high points. Joe Biden? Who?
What would the presidential election be without the continuous personal attacks?
Personal attacks seem to be an integral part of the democratic process, when a political leader is elected. Dirt is dug up and thrown in all possible directions.
On the one hand, these personal attacks can be helpful for the electors in order to getting to know the intimate details about the candidates and their characters, their past and moral standards as double standards are revealed and every skeleton in the closet is let out. What would the presidential election be without
Why it must be nice to be friends with Sarah Palin
It must be very nice to be friends with Sarah Palin, as she apperently go to the greatest possible length to be a very good friend.
First National Enquirer dropped a bomb by claiming, that Sarah Palin had an affair with her husbands business partner and good friend.
In a Danish newpaper, a reader, who commented on National Enquirer´s accusations, stated that he very much wanted to do business with Sarah Palin´s husband, if Sarah Palin´s way of caring for her husband´s business partners is that good.
Now she has also been accused of nepotism as it is claimed in The New York Times, that she has given top posts to some of her personal friends and in account has made sure, that they get a much better salary than they would have gotten, if thay had been emplyed in the private sector.
On the other hand, you don´t want to get under Sarah Palin´s feet as that mistake apperently can cost you your job according to the story about Sarah Palin getting her former brother-in-law fired from his job as a police officer.
Maybe some of theese stories turn out to be a hoax. Still, the stories keep rolling, and the Sarah Palin farce is only being reinforced by Sarah Palin´s own self-representation as a woman who believes strongly in Christian values. Maybe she has a special edition of the Bible?
Do pigs wear lipstick?
A pig wearing lipstick is stil a pig!…
The immediaete thougt that crossed my mind after reading this was; Well, what else would it be, but a pig?… At most a painted pig, I guess. Do pigs even at all wear lipstick except from Miss Piggy?
I simply do not get, why the Republicans want to make such a big fuzz out of Barack Obama´s lipstick metaphor. Of course it could obviously be understood as an anwer to Sarah Palin´s hockey mother vs. pittbull metaphor. But so what? Wouldn´t their time be spend better by hiring a communications expert to teach Sarah Palin eloquence and thereby learn to be able to avoid, that her own words fall back on her?
Actually I find it out of place when politicians use bad metaphors like the hockey mother vs. pittbull metaphor. The electors are better off with politicians that speak their minds and do not wrap up their messages and political statements in useless puns or idle talk.
Metaphors and other verbal decoration can be used appropriate when you want to give your words cogency or make something abstarct become visible, and thereby leave a mark in the minds of your audience.
Sarah Palin´s hockey mother vs. pittbull metaphor has gotten a lot of attention now and will be remembered for a long time. But not because it was a good metaphor, because it really wasn´t, but because of Obama´s metaphor of pigs wearing lipstick. So maybe the Republicans should thank Obama for that instead of working themselves all up about it.
